The battle for the soul of insurance regulation

Louisiana state Sen. Dan Morrish was in the midst of a lengthy monologue on the insurance industry and the tangled web of state, federal and global agencies charged with overseeing it when he stopped and offered the sheepish caveat heard increasingly throughout the insurance community.

“It’s a lot of acronyms,” he said, laughing. “I’ve got a few people who I sat in a couple meetings with who were spouting these acronyms, and I’ve got my little cheat sheet, and I’m trying to find them as fast as they can spout them, and then go back and see who they are and what they’re made up of.”
